We had the pleasure of talking with Anthony and Carly D’Arpino of The Harrison Wine Vault located on Halstead Avenue. The savy business owners know a thing or two about wine, whiskey and how to keep the people of Harrison happy!
Check out what they had to say :
Are you noticing a trend in what are people drinking as it gets hot outside?
Yes, definitely. The weather dictates customers buying patterns. The hotter it gets
customers are gravitating towards crisper, lighter whites and Rose. We are also seeing
an increase in purchases of sparkling wine especially Prosecco.
Is it true that you guys have a party room or area to host private wine tastings or parties?
Yes! The store is unique in the fact that it has three distinct floors. Our lower
level features an area that we host private tastings and wine seminars. We consider
ourselves lucky to be able to have the space to host both social and educational events.
Whats in YOUR wine glass?
We rarely drink the same wine twice. Right now we are on a Rosé kick and love Lafage Rosé.
We are also enjoying some Italian indigenous grape varietals such as Favorita,
Falanghina and Greco di Tufo.
Where do most of your wines come from?
With over 2,000 different types of wines in the store we try to shine a light on every wine
growing region. With that being said California is still king, with wines from France and
Italy rounding out the top three.
What’s the most popular wine this month at your store?
By far our best seller this month has been Pomponette Rosé. In the last two months we have
sold e have sold close to 100 cases!
Is Rosé all it’s cracked up to be?
Absolutely! Rosé is very interesting. To a lot of people, Rosé is still unchartered
territory. Some people associate Rosé to semi-sweet wine (thinking it tastes more like a
White Zinfandel) which couldn't be farther from the truth. They offer great food friendly
versatility and I can think of nothing better to drink on a hot summer day.
