When I should really be thinking about…my poor house and all the beating it took this winter! (sigh, or maybe like balling my eyes out)
So what does Spring Cleaning entail?
Set up your annual spring lawn maintenance, check sprinklers, cut back overgrown vegetation
Power wash your siding or exterior, makes a huge difference. An if your husband likes to rent things that make him feel powerful this is an easy task! May does this every year and wow does her house sparkle
Good time to service your AC and change the filters
Check the Exterior caulking: especially around Window sills, door sills, and thresholds. I already found some leaking near a window so that is top of my list this year!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE PREPAYMENT OF CITY TAXES
Rye, NY, December 15, 2017– The City of Rye will be accepting prepayment of City Taxes. Marcus Serrano, City Manager of the City of Rye announced today that the City has been receiving a number of requests for prepayment of City taxes. Mr. Serrano stated even though the City is not obligated to collect the prepayment of City taxes, the City is always trying to serve its taxpayers and he is pleased to be able to accommodate these requests from the residents. Mr. Serrano has been working with the Finance Department, IT Department and the software vendors to implement the necessary changes to allow for the prepayment of taxes. Mr. Serrano stated that the requests are based on the proposed tax law changes. Mr. Serrano wanted to make it very clear that even though the City taxes may be prepaid, the question of deductibility is a question that must be answered by a tax preparer. Therefore Mr. Serrano stated that “the City of Rye makes no claim, nor bears any responsibility for the deductibility of the pre-payment of property taxes. You should consult your tax professional for further information”. Mr. Serrano also stated that the City can only collect the prepayment of City taxes and not School or County taxes. Mr. Serrano stated that this process is dependent on the City Council adopting the budget before December 31st. If the City Council adopts the budget on December 20th the City’s website will be updated to allow for the prepayment of taxes starting on December 22nd.
Individuals should go to the City website if they wish to prepay. The City’s website will have a link that will take you to a site that will provide you with instructions on how to prepay and the amount of the City tax.
ANNOUNCING PANTONE 18-3838 ULTRA VIOLET, PANTONE® COLOR OF THE YEAR 2018.
At first glance I wasn’t smitten, but then these mages were such eye candy for me, giving me a new outlook on the use of color and providing so much inspiration. Its amazing how a color suggestion can trickle into every aspect of our lives, fashion, art, music, meditation, jewelry, the list goes on. Cant wait to see all the ways we can express ourselves through ULTRA VIOLET
from the Pantone website, a little meaning to the color of the year
A dramatically provocative and thoughtful purple shade, PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet communicates originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us toward the future.
Enigmatic purples have also long been symbolic of counterculture, unconventionality, and artistic brilliance. Musical icons Prince, David Bowie, and Jimi Hendrix brought shades of Ultra Violet to the forefront of western pop culture as personal expressions of individuality. Nuanced and full of emotion, the depth of PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet symbolizes experimentation and non-conformity, spurring individuals to imagine their unique mark on the world, and push boundaries through creative outlets.
Historically, there has been a mystical or spiritual quality attached to Ultra Violet. The color is often associated with mindfulness practices, which offer a higher ground to those seeking refuge from today’s over-stimulated world. The use of purple-toned lighting in meditation spaces and other gathering places energizes the communities that gather there and inspire connection.

Read below for all the details!
I made a trip to NYC about two weeks ago for meetings and since my favorite hotel, The Mark, was booked solid I decided to try this cool looking spot, 1 Hotel, located smack dab on Central Park near just about everything! And it was AWESOME.
The former CEO of Starwood Hotels started this new brand to focus on sustainability and an eco-friendly mindset in the hospitality world.
The decor was so cool- all natural and nature inspired- think tons of woods, concrete, greenery, steel, leather and wovens.
Even the room keys were cool- these little wood disks instead of plastic cards!
The room was small-ish but so perfectly turned out- with an comfy and adorabel window seat perfect for blogging 🙂 The bathroom was made of steel and glass walls (but with a curtain you could pull for privacy because lets face it, we don;t all want to watch our significant other use the bathroom- ugh).
Wood floors, beams and furniture throughout and amazing marble showers.
They even offered up cozy cable knit socks instead of slippers and had a yoga mat in the room for post- travel stretching. GENIUS.
Cool industrial bathrooms…
And work spaces…
And the restaurant, Jams, was GORGEOUS, packed with cool people and the food was delicious (granted, I got a room service burger but it was AMAZING).
Even the elevators were cool- with bark covered walls!
I loved this spot (and even got taken to Penn Station in a Tesla, the hotel’s courtesy car!) And no, they did not sponsor this at all- I paid for everything so this is an honest-to-blog opinion. 🙂
